Andrea Kavanagh, a visual artist based in Dublin who graduated NCAD in Visual Arts Practice 2019. An award winning artist, whose sculpture is informed by her observations of the natural world around her and particularly observing its ephemeral and fragile nature. This fragility is echoed in the use of porcelain clay which has led to an exploration of the hanging of her sculptural works. Her work ranges from site specific installations to gallery exhibitions and commissions. In her recent work Andrea uses machine cut and polished acrylic discs and fishing line to assemble her delicate forms together, as stated by ArtnetDLR “Andrea is shifting the perception of ceramics with her exuberant porcelain hanging sculpture.”
Andrea has exhibited in many group exhibitions in Dublin and around the country and a highlight was being awarded The ESB Moran Award for Outstanding Sculpture at The 192nd RHA Annual exhibition for her work “Inner Sphere” in 2022. She was also shortlisted for The RCSI Irish Times Art Award 2022.
